I have updated my timetable to reflect my new activities.

Sadly, I was not able to get into PHL245. The last day to register came and went, and no one dropped the course. It's no big deal, I'll just take it next year/in the summer.

To make up for the lack of a course, I enrolled in a weekly yoga class. I'm doing Hatha Yoga, with a delightful instructor. My first lesson was last week, and the course will last for ten weeks.

My other new and exciting thing is that I finally have a student! The situation isn't quite what I wanted - I'm working a lot more than I expected, and earning a lot less. Nonetheless, I found my first lesson with Jean-Pierre very rewarding. He is in grade six (another minor disappointment) and has been living in Chile for the past two years. As far as I can tell, he received no mathematics training there whatsoever, because he is exactly where a fourth grader should be at this point. Despite all of these many setbacks, as I said, I found my first lesson with him very rewarding. I can't put my finger on what it was I enjoyed, but I left the lesson feeling pumped.

I do hope to get another student. I am currently set to work with Jean-Pierre for six hours per week, and earn $40. That means I'm getting less than $7 per hour. Which sucks. The reason I accepted this offer was because I was desperate to get my first job, and I would have settled for almost anything. I do hope I will get another student, whom I can charge a more standard fee ($15).

In 20 minutes I have an interview for a volunteer tutoring thing (I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but again, it's another opportunity to get experience and build my resume).

Other than that, I need to get cracking on the next Oscillations problem set... musn't fall behind on a course that I'm repeating...
