it is bizarre the sort of power games you get within just little high school clubs.

i have long since been complaining about the radio station. the guys turned the whole thing into a game of intrigue: secret alliances amongst each other, trying to remove someone's power, organization and re-organization of hierarchy... it was maddening. the guys would especially like to try and get on top of the food chain, just so they can then say "no one but me, so-and-so, and so-and-so is allowed in the radio room." it drove me insane.
the boys have grown up a lot since them, but those secret alliances are still there.

similarly, the RAMbassodors as currently in the middle of a power crisis. the exec decided they didn't like adnan being able to make decisions. so they took away his power to do so. it is, of course, moronic. he's the president. they voted for him. they knew what it meant. they just choose to sabotage the entire organization, for the sake of... i don't even know what. for the sake of the feeling of power.

all in all, people need to grow up. we all like being in charge, but we simply cannot all be. things don't work that way. groups that made the decision to have a leader need to respect that leader, and groups that choose to not have a leader ought to live harmoniously thus. but most importantly, people need to let go of this vanity.

i have often said that if i were my own parent, i would assume i was on drugs. afterall, how many times has the following scenario happened:
"where are you going?"
"nowhere in particular, around the neibourhood."
"who are you doing with."
"no one in particular."

well, fortunatley, my father has more faith in me than that. he doesn't assume i'm out on the streets getting high: he assumes i'm in some boy's house, getting laid.
i am reminded of one occasion in particular. i had gone over to see josh, not too long after we had broken up. about two minutes after i left the house, josh mansfeild telephoned for me.
when i come back home, the first thing my dad says is "you were with josh, weren't you!" i was shocked senseless, and trying hard to hide it while saying, no daddy, of course not. of course, when i realized it was the wrong josh, i thought it was all very funny.

similarly, last sunday i was at josh's house, and i called my dad to say when i'd be home. i say i'm at some (female) friend's house, hanging out.
"are you making out with boys are this friend's house?"
"ok, sure dad."
when i mentioned the hour that i was planning to be home, he burst into this huge i-don't-want-you-out-kissing-boys thing.
"what boys, dad!?!?! that's just something you made up!"
