You know how when you work our really hard, of get into a fist fight, the next day everything hurts a little? Well, today I have the emotional equivalent of that.
I bombed my calc midterm last night. You know how they say "stupidity should hurt?" It does. Hence the emotional soreness.

The most important lesson I've learned in university is that I'm stupid and useless. They're always letting kids "You can do anything you set your mind to!" But you can't. They should stop telling that to kids, it would save us a lot of broken hearts.

I fail at subjects I'm bad at, but I also fail at subjects I'm good at. You know why that is? It's because I'm a failure. I'm stupid and have no talents and no purpose in the world. I wish someone would push me in front of a subway, because I'm just wasting the air that would be better spent on someone intelligent.

This morning I handed in our first Electricity & Magnetism problem set. I think I got perfect on it. And just as I'm thinking how proud I am that at least I could do that, Oliver says "Yeah, I wrote at the end of mine 'I want a challenge - don't give me monkey work.'" That's how smart people think. This problem set was all "mathletics," no actual physics, and if I had the IQ of a rodent I'd appreciate that fact and be angry. Instead, I'm thinking how it's so wonderful that Krieger set an assignment I could do.

Anyway, Oliver brought jelly beans to class, that made things a bit easier.

Score! I just looked at Expedia, and the cheapest flight to Boston for reading week is now $348.10 - meaning, I got le deal.

This morning I woke up before my alarm rang, something that hasn't happened in a long time. I was dressed, fed, and out the door exactly on time, at 8:35, which also hasn't happened in a long time. And what should I do then? I forgot it was Tuesday, so rather than going to Museum, I went to Spadina, and only once I was on the streetcar did I realize I'd made a mistake. I walked along Harbord and got to class - but was 10 minutes late, something that has been happening quite a lot.

The class was my German tutorial, during which we watched a 1930's B&W film starring some lady who is apparently very famous, but I have never heard of. It was rather cute.

I'm in a tough financial situation. I have oodles of money. It's a problem. The reason that it's a problem is that my mom's been sending my lots of cash, and I don't know if she can afford it - she probably can, I talked to her about this when I visited, but I'll e-mail her about it none the less.
In addition, Kate gave me $100 for Josh's last plane ticket, but now that there's all this money I feel I should give it back - except I don't want to do that until I know what's going on with VISA, and those people are useless. I can't get a straight answer about how much I owe them... argh... Sorry to pester you with this, and I've done a poor job of explaining what the problem is. Let me just assure you: VISA = devil.

I've actually been having a good time working on my problem sets. I'm gonna go over to James's and work on them now.

I would like to take this time to officially curse Sean, or, at least, his parents.
Not only has he not updated his blog in three months, but he has once again been so late in coming downtown as to totally miss the meeting we were supposed to have.
Sean - I love you, but I can't count on you for beans. Like, if I gave you some beans, then left, I'd return to find they were on fire or something.
My advice is to tell your mother that you're gay. Then she'd kick you out, and you'd have to get an apartment in the city, and I'd be happy. Besides, she's already met Sarah, so believing this wouldn't be so hard. :::snigger:::
