my algebra prof, professor robin, is a very young man. he has facial hair and lots and lots of surly red hair that goes out in all directions.
today, i walk into class, and there i see a man's body, with an egg on top.
he had shaved it all off.

oh, and for the curious, i didn't hand calc set #3 in.

vega, academically speaking.

i must, i'm afraid, bore you by telling you about my academic life, simply because it so tied into my emotional life and sense of self worth.
it all started on monday. i had had a rather productive weekend. i thought i was good. i was on top of things. then i got two calc problem sets back.
vega last week: well, i didn't have time to do set #2. that's ok. i'll take the 0, but i know i'll do well on set #1. i worked my ass off on that! it's the best problem set in the universe!
well, i did get a 0 on set #2, as i expected. however, set #1 got 8/20.
to top it off, john got a 15 and a 10, and he was all sad about it. of course, he thought that you had to get 60% to pass, so he thought he had failed one. but why do i have to associate with all these brainiacs? all my new friends are so much started than me and are getting better marks... what if i actually fail first year? my dad would kick me out of the house, i bet.
so, tuesday i started out all sad. when i had physics, i suddenly got so jealous of my group of people that i hang out with. they all go to trinity college, and they're all getting so close. they get to hang out. me, i spend ALL MY TIME ALONE! i have no friends in most of my classes, i spend my breaks alone, and after school i go home and sit in my room, trying to avoid the inevitable work i must do. no wonder i feel so stressed and depressed: i have essentially no human contact!
tuesday ended well, however. i had an algebra test last period, and i felt so good about it! of course, next week i'll get in back and find out i failed that, too, but for now i'm gonna use that test to keep me feeling good for the rest of the week.

vega, non academically

i also saw rek last night (we had sushi! and it was actually filling. i guess you have to eat a lot to feel full). so that also helped relax me. i'm actually starting to feel tempted to try underworld (the live-action rpg he plays), which just goes to show how desperate i am for HUMANS!

guys, i can't wait for this weekend. if you've read all of this rambling, you'll know i'm pining for my friends. to spend friday AND saturday with you guys (plus sunday with rek) will be soo good for me.

i do have a more long-range plan of action.
1) i want to start working out with sean (yes, you!) so that's at least 1-2 hours a week with a friend.
2) i want to start a poetry group.
3) i have to make time to hang out with the handful U of T people whom i like (brani, jeff, if you're reading this, that means you.)

i apologize for my self-doubting rants. i promise, next one will be more interesting maybe something political. imagine the scandal!
