ages and ages ago i signed up for "daily hindu wisdom" to be delivered to my e-mail. a few days ago i started receiving said wisdom, and now i'd like to share it.

if you do not participate in this battle against evil, you will incur sin, violating your dharma and your honor.

i found this interesting. rather than preaching the usual principles of ahisma (non-violence), the Bhagavad Gita is suggesting that a battle against evil is not evil in itself. but, more importantly, it says that one SHOULD participate in the battle, so to not damage one's own dharma and honour. a fascinating matter, which applies to today's politics in many ways. ***


Those who know the Self as enjoyer

a very nice "Aham brahmasmi" sort of quote. firstly, it is pro-matter, not denying matter or classifying it as lower than mind. rather, the concepts of enjoyment of the senses and transcendence go hand-in-hand.


Thinking
Of what is beyond thinking
Is still thinking.

Whoever fulfills this
fulfills his own nature
And is indeed fulfilled.
