thank god it's thursday.
i like thursdays.

i'm in such a mood for a survey. i feel like spewing random facts about myself. i suppose i could do it anyway, but it's just not the same to simply rite down "i am hindu, i am vegetarian, i am a capricorn, i am in love."

everyone at the thinking corner has taken to writing a lot. that's why i don't respond there much lately: i just don't have it in me to do so much reading.
one thing i miss about summers past is how much reading i used to do. i would go in to the library on monday morning, take out a stack of books, and have read them all by the weekend. last summer, due to work, i only read on the subway ride into and out of town, and on my lunch breaks. it made every book take forever, and it also made it hard to get really engrossed in any one thing. that's what i resent the most about this "growing up" business - not enough time to just sit and read and think.
i'm gonna make pleasure reading a priority this coming summer. i'm gonna make brentwood library my second (or third) home. and i'm gonna do all those things that used to make summers so dreamlike - take longs walks alone in the middle of the afternoon, when it's too hot to be out; dip my feet in the creek; climb things.
childhood may be a state of mind, but it's much easier to cultivate such a state when performing the right actions. kinda like religious worship.
i want more rocks and trees in my life. i want to climb things, sit on things that are alive in a very vast sense. i want to write more, not just blog, though that's nice too, i want to write more poetry, and more fiction. since school started, i don't think i've written more than 5 poems. and how long has it been since i've written something longer than 2 pages simply for the pleasure of creating?
